Shooting is really two separate skills — power and accuracy — and most players train them the same generic way: standing in one spot, firing pucks, with no real structure behind it. Weight transfer. Power starts from the ground up, not the hands. Shifting weight from the back leg to the front leg through the shot is what generates most of the force behind it — a shot taken from a flat, static stance is working with a fraction of the power available.

Picking a spot, not "the net." Aiming at the general area of the net produces general results. - A specific target for every shot, not just "the net" — a corner, a small taped-off area, a spot the goalie has to actually cover.
