About BladeBoost

Meet Coach Oliver

I'm Oliver Talvikunnas, founder and head coach of BladeBoost. I played competitively for over 15 years, including through the Finnish elite junior pathway, with playing experience in Finland, Sweden, and Germany. That path taught me the gap that matters most: team practice is built to win games for the team, not to build the individual player underneath it. BladeBoost exists to close that gap.

What I do today

Alongside BladeBoost, I'm assistant coach for the men's Div 1 team and skills coach for the U16 and U18 teams at Forward Morges Hockey Club in Switzerland: daily, in-season work with competitive junior players.

Coaching philosophy: Nordic-style development

My approach is built on the Nordic model that's made small hockey nations like Finland and Sweden disproportionately strong on skating, puck skill, and hockey sense: more individual touches, small-area-game decision-making, and delayed tactical specialization at young ages, over pure systems-first coaching. The goal isn't just a technically sound player. It's a player who reads and solves the modern game.

Two ways we work together

Development: private coaching, small-group training, on-ice and off-ice programs, and structured development plans for players who want to get better, period.

International Pathways: for players who are ready, evaluation and preparation for opportunities in North America. We don't promise placement, scholarships, or contracts. Nobody honest can. What we prepare you for is being ready when a real opportunity comes. See how this works →

You provide the work ethic. I provide the plan, the standard, and, when it's the right fit, the pathway.
